Text messaging: A quick note

I have received countless 2-minute phone calls from elder friends and relatives over the last decade.  In that time I have only managed to convince two people to actively use text messaging (my parents), instead of calling me on the phone.   The resolution, I have found, is where text messaging, ease-of-use, necessity meet.  Thank goodness for the Smartphone.
