AccuWeather Live Background for Android is awesome

I've had several weather apps during my use of Android phones, including WeatherBug, Wunderground, Weather.com and AccuWeather. As far as weather apps go, I have no particular preference. At the very least an ad-free app is nice, but by paying $1 for the pro version that annoyance is eliminated. I've also tried a number of random live backgrounds.  Live backgrounds tend to increase battery life and serve little more purpose than just another distraction.  So why bother combining these features?

I believe it is a common fact that everyone wants to know the status of the weather, even if it's sunny and beautiful out.  We all have this innate desire to know the future of our physical condition and how we may likely prepare for it.  With a weather application, quick updates on status are very helpful and simple, visual ones are usually the easiest to comprehend . Thankfully, AccuWeather has a wonderful app that achieves both of these functions in a simple and comprehensive manner.

The AccuWeather live background has two options, Windy or Ocean weather.  The Windy option shows an open field dotted with windmills, the Ocean a beach with crashing waves.   Each wallpaper lists your current location in the top left, but includes additional features about the current weather in a soothing visual effect.  If the weather is sunny the sun shines fully, if cloudy, clouds move slowly across the sky.  If rainy or snowy the scene is coated with the various effects of the actual weather.  These effects will intensify if the weather gets stronger.

For these simple and sublime reasons have I maintained the use of this app and live background.  I can only look forward to the future of such features, by other app makers.

Check it out on Android and iOS 5+ and tell me what you think.
