Simple Notes via Google Keep

  I was skeptical at first.  Another Google product that does what now?  Don't get me wrong I definitely downloaded and tried it, but I was not a believer at first.

  As a contrast, last year about this time I dove, head-long into Evernote. I purchased an account and went Pro.  I was quite sure that I would be using Evernote multiple times daily.  There were so many features, like web-page clipping, bookmarking, audio and video recording, and cross-platform data sync. But even, so I wasn't coming anywhere close to that full functionality.  I used Evernote merely for note-taking and web sync. I just wanted a simple note app.

  Google apparently heard my inaudible request and released Google Keep this year.  (Or maybe I was not the only one who wanted a simple note app?)   Google Keep is a snap to open and in less than 2 seconds I can be writing a simple note. That note is regularly saved and synced to my Google Drive space.  In addition, more items can be added to a note like photos, audio, or a list and each post can be color coded, but that is the extent of the app.

  I sincerely hope that Google Keep remains a simple, no-frills application.  It hasn't changed my habits, but it has accommodated a real need.  By comparison, I do not think that Google Keep and Evernote are direct competitors as the functionality of each is distinct.

An Elephant Never Forgets: Evernote

Notes; we all have to make them or take them.  Evernote is a great app for notes.

It took me at least a year before I began using Evernote regularly.  I would use it for demos of Swype or jotting quick things that I would later forget about. It was not until roughly two years ago that I realized the potential of this app when I began using the desktop interface.

Evernote has many features, the most important to me is the ability to write notes on my phone or desktop and then synchronize. It is possible to take note of far more than just documentation.  The app features inclusion of photos, audio, video, and clipping from websites. I make notes everywhere, for everything with a very plain, simple interface.  This same interface can be found on both the Desktop and mobile versions of the application.  Additionally, Evernote is available for any desktop/ laptop via the browser, as well as Android, iPhone, Windows Phone, and Blackberry.
